Ilulissat Icefjord is a place that is not fully experienced from the vantage points alone. From the water you get movement, perspective and proximity. Icebergs do not lie still as scenery. They drift, spin, melt, crack and change expression with the weather, wind and tide.
It also means that no boat trip is quite the same. Some days the fjord is characterized by clear skies and bright light, where the blue hues in the ice stand out clearly. On other days, low fog or soft, gray light overlies the bay, and then the landscape takes on a more calm and heavy atmosphere. Each trip has its own character, which is why the experience is always unique.
Ilulissat Icefjord — sailing among icebergs
The boat trip lasts about 1½ hours, and along the way our guide will tell you about the icebergs and the ice fjord. The huge icebergs in all their different forms are an impressive sight.
The number of icebergs near Ilulissat varies with wind and weather. The closer we get to the ice fjord, the more ice you will experience.
